DBUNK didn't start as an app.
It started as a problem we could no longer ignore.

When we first began working together, DBUNK existed entirely behind the scenes. Our focus was building a proprietary fact-checking and research system for media companies, not for public consumption. The sole purpose was to help journalists and editorial teams publish more accurate, data-backed reporting by verifying claims, strengthening sourcing, and preserving context before stories ever went live.

At the time, we believed the most responsible place to intervene was inside the newsroom.

For years, that is where our work lived. We obsessed over process. We refined how claims are extracted, how sources are evaluated, how evidence is weighed, and how conclusions are formed. Speed was never allowed to replace rigor. Credibility was never allowed to bend to convenience.

As AI matured, DBUNK matured with it. Our systems began helping media organizations not just verify information, but produce well-researched, factual content faster, without sacrificing accuracy or fairness. That work still continues today.

But something became increasingly clear.

Misinformation was no longer just a media problem.
It had become a public one.

Over the last year, we made a deliberate decision to bring DBUNK directly to consumers. We began building a platform that gives everyday readers access to the same level of fact-finding, research depth, and contextual analysis that was once limited to professionals. The DBUNK app exists so anyone can spot false narratives, misleading framing, and unfactual claims in articles published by any outlet, at any time.

We want to be clear about what DBUNK is and is not.

DBUNK is fully non-partisan.

We have no political agenda.

We have no bias toward any network, ideology, or institution.

We have no exclusivity contracts with news agencies or publishers.

Our commitment is to evidence, transparency, and fairness.

Journalists across North America trust DBUNK because our process is built on rigor, not opinion. Credibility is earned through method, not messaging. Everything we do is designed to show the work, not just deliver a verdict.

Our Standards and the Global Fact-Checking Community

International Fact-Checking Network

DBUNK aligns its principles with the standards of the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), a global coalition of independent fact-checking organizations dedicated to transparency, nonpartisanship, fairness, and accountability.

The IFCN represents hundreds of organizations worldwide, including a strong and respected presence across North America. Alignment with these standards requires clear methodology, visible sourcing, editorial independence, and a demonstrated commitment to fairness.

These standards matter deeply to us.

They reflect what we believe at DBUNK: that trust is built by showing how conclusions are reached, that context is as important as correctness, and that fairness in media begins with process, not perspective.

What We Believe

We believe fairness in media does not mean balance for balance's sake.
It means honesty in framing.
It means clarity in evidence.
It means accountability in conclusions.

A claim can be technically true and still mislead.
A headline can be accurate and still distort reality.
Context is not optional, it is essential.

DBUNK exists to help both media organizations and the public engage with information more responsibly, more critically, and more fairly.

We are not here to tell you what to think.
We are here to show you how the facts were found.
